Tesla Production and Defect Project

•Situation: Elon Musk promises 5,000 cars to be built per month.

•Task: Eliminate the 75% of root cause failures which were categorized and identified as defects in:

1. People (Training)

2. Parts

3. Processes

•Action: If the defect was a process, we had 45 minutes to correct it. If the defect was with our crews, we would send them to our Tesla Training Academy for root cause analysis and solution sets.

•Result In 5 months, production rose from 50 cars per month to 5,000 per week.
